Check air vents
Remove objects or dust covering the ventilation areas of the machine (ventilation areas are usually located on the left, right, or back of the machine or at the bottom side of the machine). Clear lint, dust, or debris from vents with compressed air when the PC is off.
Check the surface
Try placing the laptop on a flat, hard surface. Uneven or soft surfaces may block the ventilation areas.
Close CPU intensive applications
Close applications that require high CPU usage. Check CPU levels in Task Manager.
- Search for and select Task Manager (or use ctr-alt-del to launch Task Manager).
- Use the CPU column under the Processes tab to find applications.
- Use the application interface to close the application. Note: Closing the application from Task Manager may cause unexpected issues.
Run System updates
See First steps for solving computer problems.
Updates are also available with the automatic scan option:
- Go to https://support.lenovo.com.
- Select Detect Product.
- Select Drivers & Software.
- Select Automatic Update and Scan Now.
