Base Warranty

All new Lenovo hardware products come with a standard basic warranty. For consumer customers the basic warranty shall be as per the local legislation, for commercial customer the basic warranties range from one (1) year to three (3) years of coverage and the level of service may vary from deposit to deposit depending on the product model. Lenovo warrants that every Lenovo hardware product you purchase is free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use during the warranty period.

  • What does my Base Warranty Cover?

  • When does my Base Warranty start?

    The warranty period for your product starts on the original date of purchase as shown on your sales receipt or invoice.

  • How do I register my device under my name?

    You can register your device’s serial number under your name by creating a Lenovo Account.

  • If my Base Warranty start date is incorrect, how can I fix it?

    After creating a Lenovo Account, you can update your Base Warranty start date by submitting the hardware purchase date here. If you received an error after submitting the information or if you prefer to contact our Service Entitlement Team directly, you can open a case here. If the warranty start date you see on the portal is more recent than the one in your invoice, don't worry! You can keep that start date, the length of your service will be the same as what you purchased, you don't need to change it.

Warranty Upgrade

Warranty Upgrades are designed to upgrade the level of coverage as well as the length of your base warranty. Warranty Upgrades are available for periods of up to five (5) years and include a diverse range of coverage: Depot/Onsite, Accidental Damage Protection (ADP), Premier Support and much more.

  • When can I purchase a Warranty Upgrade?

    While warranty upgrades can be purchased while the base warranty is active, it is recommended to purchase the services with the product or within ninety (90) days of product purchase. Some specific upgrades, like Accidental Damage Protection, must be purchased within the first ninety (90) days period.

  • What types of Warranty Upgrades are available?

    Depending on the model of your machine, the levels of coverage currently available are Depot, Onsite, Premier Support, Premium Support, Accidental Damage Protection (ADP), Keep your Drive (KYD), International Warranty, Sealed Battery Replacement and Product Exchange.

  • When does my Warranty Upgrade start?

    Warranty Upgrades always start from the hardware’s purchase date.

  • Do I have to register my Warranty Upgrade?

    Yes, Warranty Upgrades require registration. After the Warranty Upgrade is purchased, you will receive a Lenovo Services Registration Required e-mail with the Authorization Code and PIN number. You will need to enter these codes on our registration portal and follow the steps to complete the registration. If you have problems with the online registration, you can contact our Service Entitlement Team directly, providing the Order Number and Serial Number to complete the registration on your behalf.

  • How do I know if my Warranty Upgrade was successfully registered?

    After the Warranty Upgrade is registered, you will receive a Lenovo Services Registration Confirmation email including the Warranty Terms and Conditions and the Warranty start and end dates.

  • What do I do if I receive an error while attempting registration?

    There are different errors that can occur while attempting to register a Warranty Upgrade. If you received the "Service Incompatible with the machine serial provided" error you will need to contact your reseller or Sales representative if the Warranty was purchased through a third party. If the Warranty was purchased directly from Lenovo, you need to contact our Customer Service Department. If you receive this message: "based on the purchase date you provided, we need you to provide a copy of your invoice or proof of purchase", please contact our Service Entitlement Team.

  • Can I stack Warranty Upgrades to extend my coverage?

    No, it is not possible to stack Warranty Upgrades.

Post Warranty

Post Warranty services extend your warranty coverage after your Base Warranty or Warranty Upgrade expires. Post Warranties are available for periods of up to two (2) years.

  • What is the difference between a Warranty Upgrade and a Post Warranty?

    The main difference between a Warranty Upgrade and a Post Warranty is the start date. While Warranty Upgrades start form the hardware purchase date, Post Warranties do not. Warranty Upgrades are available for periods of up to five (5) years and Post Warranties for one (1) or two (2) years. Post Warranties have a limited level of coverage.

  • When does my Post Warranty Start?

    If your device has an active warranty (Base or Upgrade), your Post Warranty will remain inactive until the current active warranty expires. If your warranty is expired, your Post Warranty will be registered but will be inactive because of the 30 day waiting period policy Lenovo has.

  • What types of Post Warranties are available?

    The two coverages supported by Post Warranties are Onsite and Depot services. Depending on your device, there are also Premier Support Post Warranties available.

  • Do I have to register my Post Warranty?

    Yes, Post Warranties, like Warranty Upgrades, have to be registered. Once you receive the Service Registration Required email, you need To enter the Authorization code and PIN number on our registration portal. If you have problems with the online registration, you can contact our Service Entitlement Team providing the Order Number and Serial Number for our Team to complete the registration on your behalf.

  • How do I know if my Post Warranty was successfully registered?

    After the Post Warranty is registered, you will receive a Lenovo Services Registration Confirmation email including the Warranty Terms and Conditions and the Warranty start and end dates.

  • Can I stack Post Warranties to extend my coverage?

    Yes, Post Warranties can stack. If you have an active Post Warranty registered to your machine the new Post Warranty will remain inactive until the current active Warranty expires.
