This package provides ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility for Microsoft Windows Vista users.

This package provides ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility for Microsoft Windows Vista users. ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility enables the user to customize the ThinkPad and external keyboard, and to assign 'Key Sensitivity' and 'Special character input' functions.

The following ThinkPad systems are supported:
- R60, R60e, R61, R61e, R61i
- R400, R500
- T400, T500
- T43, T43p
- T60, T60p, T61, T61p
- W500, W700, W700ds
- X60, X60s, X60 Tablet, X61, X61s, X61 Tablet
- X200, X 300 , X301
- Z61m, Z61p, Z61t

Notes:
- The following additional packages are required for this update (see links below to obtain the updates).
- ThinkPad Hotkey Features for Windows 2000, XP, Vista - Version 2.00.0611 (or later).
- ThinkPad Power Management Driver Driver for 2000, XP, Vista(ACPI) - Version 2.01(or later)
- Before installing (updating) this utility, you must uninstall the current utility.

Installation instructions

Notes:

Before installing (updating) this utility, you must uninstall the current utility.
The following additional packages are required.
- Hotkey Features for Windows Vista, XP, 2000 version 2.00.0611 (or later)
- Power Management Driver for Vista Version 2.01 (or later)

Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
Extract this package onto the hard drive.
Click Start, select Accessories, then click Run...
Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\KEYCUSTM\SETUP then click OK. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
Follow the instructions on the screen.

Unattended install

Note: This is for system administrators' use only.

Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
Extract the drivers to the hard drive.
Click Start, select Accessories, then click Run...
Type DRIVERS\WIN\KEYCUSTM\SETUP -S -SMS
Note: System will not reboot automatically.

Uninstallation instructions

Note: If ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility is running, close it.

Start Windows 2000 and logon with a User ID of Administrator.

Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
For Classic Start menu, click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. Otherwise, click Start, then click Control Panel.
Click Uninstall a program.
Select ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility.
Click Uninstall/Change.
Click Continue.
Click OK.
Click Finish, then restart the system.

Determining which version is installed

Open ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility.
Right click the title bar and select Keyboard Customizer Utility information.
The version will be displayed: 1.0.01

Restrictions

Automatically enable and disable key assignments (USB keyboards only) follows Keyboard connection status in Device Manager/Keyboards.
When you run PC-Doctor for Windows, you need to select Disable keyboard Customizer.
If your keyboard does not have right alt key, your assignment for right alt key is ignored.
Keyboard Customizer Utility does not work when the foreground window has administrative rights.
