Frequently Asked Question's (FAQ's)

  • How to wear the headset?
    • Select and attach the correct fitting face pad.
    • Place your face into the HMD and pull the rear dad down so it sits comfortable on the back of your head and tight the side straps with the nob on the back of the rear pad. If the top strap requires adjustment, remove the rear pad, and adjust the top strap up or down.
       
  • How to adjust the headset to fit?
    • If the top strap requires adjustment, remove the rear dad, and adjust the top strap up or down.
    • Turn the knob on the rear of the device.
       
  • What is the recommended operating area?
    • At least 0.8 meters (2.6 feet) radius around the user needs to be clear from obstructions.
       
  • Can the device be operated outdoors?
    • Outdoor use is not recommended. The device contains two sets of lenses. These lenses, when exposed to direct sunlight, can cause damage the device. When operating the device outdoors, do not expose the device to direct sunlight. As a safety precaution, the lenses should always be covered when not in use. Sunlight damage is not covered by the limited product warranty.
       
  • How to change the face pad?
    • Grab the front pad, gently pull from the bottom and out.
       
  • How to change the rear pad?
    • Grab the rear pad, gently pull from the bottom and out.
       
  • Does the device have drivers, firmware, or OS updates?
    • The device does not have drivers or an OS. The device is an Android-based device with device software.
       
  • How to upgrade or update the device software?
    • The device and hand controller has software. Software updates are managed using Over-The-Air (OTA) updates when the device is connected to a network. Device software updates applies to the device and to the hand controllers.
       
  • How to power on, and power off the device?
    • To power on, press the power button, located on the right side, for 5 seconds.
    • To power off, press the power button for 10 seconds, or shutdown from device settings.

  • Does the device have shortcut keys?
    • The device does not have shortcut keys. The device has buttons for: Volume, Virtual See-Through (VST) Pass-through Mode and Power On/Off.
       
  • How to connect the device to a Wi-Fi network?
    • Follow these steps:
      1. Power on the device.
      2. Click the Settings icon on Dock Launcher.
      3. Click Quick or Basic Settings on the Left menu Bar.
      4. Click Wi-Fi network
      5. Turn on the Wi-Fi.
      6. Select desired Wi-Fi network and enter SSID and password to connect HMD to network. Note: If network is going through a Firewall, ensure that ports 8883 and 443 are both open for inbound and outbound traffic.

  • How to clean the the device?
    • To optimize the viewing experience, avoid touching the display lenses. When cleaning the lenses, first remove any dust or particulates on and around the display with a gentle blow of air. Then using the cleaning stick or the microfiber cloth, softly wipe against the lenses in a circular motion to remove smudges. Use a moistened, lint-free cloth and non-alcohol-based cleaner on the remainder  of the device. Let it dry completely before next use.
       
  • Does the device support wearing glasses?
    • Yes, the glasses maximum width is 134 mm (5.2 inches).
       
  • What is the battery capacity and usage time.
  • How to connect the device to a hidden Wi-Fi network?
    • The device is unable to connect to hidden networks.
       
  • What types of USB Type-C cables are supported?
    • Charging: USB Type-C cable that is included.
    • VR Stream: USB-C rated for 5GBps USB 3.1 or better.
       
  • What to do if the hand controller losses connection?
    • Ensure that the hand controller is paired with the headset.
    • Remove and replace the hand controller battery.
       
  • How to switch the the hand controller on and off?
    • When not in use, the hand controller automatically enters sleep mode. Press the Touchpad to wake up the hand controller.
       
  • Does the hand controller trigger have different sensitivity levels?
    • No, the trigger key has two states: On or Off.
       
  • Can the sensitivity of the hand controller, that controls user movement, be adjusted?
    • No, the hand controller's sensitivity has a fixed default setting that cannot be adjusted.
       
  • Why when pressing the hand controller's HOME Key button, the status indicator Blue LED blinks for 15 to 20 seconds.
    • The hand controller is attempting to pair, locate and connect to the HMD. Power on the HMD and press the hand controller HOME Key button. If the hand controller cannot pair, locate or connect to the HMD, the hand controller enter sleep mode.
       
  • After what duration of hand controller inactivity does the hand controller enter sleep mode?
    • The hand controller enters sleep mod after one minute of inactivity. Press any button to resume hand controller operation.
  • After what duration of device inactivity does the device enter sleep mode?
    • The device enters sleep mode after one minute of inactivity. Press the power button to resume device operation.
    • The device has sleep timer setting. On the device, enter Settings, then select Devices, then select Auto-sleep to select a the period of inactivity.
       
  • Can sleep mode feature be disabled?
    • Enter Developer Mode, and select Do not lock the screen. For information on Developer Mode, click: Developer Mode feature.

 

 

  • How are files transferred to and from the device?
    • Connect a PC to the device's USB-C 3.1 port using Developer Mode. For  information on Developer Mode, click: Developer Mode feature

 

 

  • How to perform a factory reset?
    • Follow these steps:
      1. Power on the device.
      2. Click the Settings icon on Dock Launcher.
      3. Click About.
      4. Scroll down, and click on Reset to Factory Settings.
      5. Click on Reset to Factory Settings button at the bottom of the page.
      6. Follow the prompts.
    • The device resets to the current version.
       
  • How to find the latest updates for apps, software using the ThinkReality portal (https://portal.thinkreality.lenovo.com)?
    • Organization IT administrators can set the device update policies in ThinkReality portal. The following update policies are available:
      • Update automatically: The device updates automatically to the latest system image when headset is connected to WiFi..
      • Update automatically outside active hours: There is a specified time range that the device will not update automatically. For example, it will not automatically update during working hours. The device will automatically update to the latest system image when the device is connected to WiFi and the time is outside this specified time range. If you are an IT administrator and want to update your device during active hours, you can go to the ThinkReality portal, log in with your Lenovo ID, select Devices from the left menu, select the device or devices you want to update, and select the Update button.
      • Update manually: The update will not update automatically. If you are an IT admin and want to update your device, you can go to the ThinkReality portal, log in with your Lenovo ID, select Devices from the left menu, select the device or devices you want to update, and select the Update button.
    • As an IT administrator, you can change the update policy at any time by going to the ThinkReality portal, logging in with your Lenovo ID, selecting Devices from the left menu, and selecting Settings. You can check the current software version on a headset by looking at the device listing on the Devices page of the ThinkReality portal or by looking at Settings ==> About on the headset.
       
  • Does the device have a diagnostics software utility?
    • No, a diagnostics software utility is not available.
       

Troubleshooting

  • The device does not power on.
    • Try the following steps:
      1. Using the charger and USB cable, attach the USB cable to the device and wait for about 15 seconds. Press the Power key to determine if the device can be powered on.
      2. If device does not power on, charge the device until the battery is fully charged.
      3. If the device does not power on in Step 1 or 2, trying using another compatible cable or charger to charge the device battery.
         
  • The device battery is not charging.
    • Try the following steps:
      • Using a charger and USB cable, attach the USB cable to the device that will not power.
      • If the battery charge is too low, the device may not be charged, so the original charging cable needs to be continuously inserted twice for battery activation.
         
  • The device is unresponsive, and how to restart, reset or recover the program?
    • To restart the device, long press on the power key that is located on the right side of the headset.
       
  • The Status Indicator or Function LED is not bright, or does not light up?
    • Confirm that the HMD battery has been charged, and the HMD can be powered on.
    • Attach the USB AC Charger. The Status Indicator should be Green.
    • Power on the HMD by pressing the POWER Key for 3-4 seconds. The Status Indicator should be Blue.
    • If the HMD cannot be powered on or the hand controller cannot be connected to the HMD, refer to the troubleshooting section: The device does not power on.
       
  • While wearing the device, the Lenovo logo appears, the following message appears: "The controller is not connected"?
    • Confirm that batteries are in the hand controller and do not need to be replaced.
    • Restart Head-Mounted Display (HMD).
    • Using your eyes target the bottom left blue circle of the menu and select Settings, select About.
    • Perform a Reset to Factory Settings.
