Display (LCD) replacement for defective pixels - ThinkPad
Description
The thin-film transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display (LCD) for notebook computers contains many TFTs. The presence of a small number of missing, discolored, or lit all the time dots or pixels is characteristic of TFT LCD technology due to manufacturing process for such technology irrespective of manufacturer.
If your LCD has 2 or less visible defective pixels, it should not be considered faulty. However, if your LCD has 3 or more visible defective pixels, it will be deemed as defective by Lenovo and is replaceable upon request, if within the warranty period.
For systems with ThinkPad Privacy Guard LCD panels, the ePrivacy technology creates certain visual effects which may appear as areas of slight discoloration, mura, and/or tiny spots depending on background color. This effect can be seen with the privacy filter turned on or off, and is typical for this technology throughout the industry. Lenovo has strict specifications for the acceptable size and number of these visual effects. Customers that have questions or concerns about this LCD technology should contact Lenovo Support for additional assistance.
