Steps and instructions to install Lenovo Power Manager driver in Device Manager

Symptom

Every time the computer is rebooted, an error message appears from RunDLL: "There was a problem starting C:\Program Files (x86)\ThinkPad\Utilities\PWMTR64V.dll. The specified module could not be found." This issue may happen after a Windows 10 feature update or after performing an operating system reset procedure.

Solution

This issue can be fixed by reinstalling the Lenovo Power Manager driver in Device Manager. See the following link:

If errors still occur after installing the driver, try the following steps:

  1. Search for and select Device Manager.
    Device Manager
  2. In Device Manager, scroll down to System Devices and click the > to open (expand) the section.
  3. Right-click Lenovo Power Manager and choose Uninstall device.
  4. When the window opens, make sure to check the box that says Delete the Driver Software for this device, then click OK.
  5. Lenovo Power Manager should be gone.
  6. Run the download again. The install should run without error.
  7. Go back into Device Manager and click Action -> Scan for Hardware Changes. Lenovo Power Manager should reappear.
