  • Does the ThinkSmart Hub include Unified Communication (UC) software?
    • Yes. The ThinkSmart Hub includes Windows 10 IoT Enterprise SAC installed, and one of the following:
      • Zoom Rooms
      • Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR)
  • How are the drivers, software, and BIOS updates provided?
    • Updates are provided by the following:
      • Windows IoT Operating System via Windows Update
      • Zoom Rooms via the IT admininstrator from a Zoom portal
      • Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) via Windows Store
      • Driver updates via Windows Update
      • BIOS updates are manually downloaded from Lenovo Technical Support (support.lenovo.com) portal
  • Does the ThinkSmart Hub need antivirus software?
    • By default, Windows IoT is secured via Windows Defender. Organizations should choose security software based on their requirements.
  • Is PXE boot supported?
    • Yes.
  • How are external cables secured in the ThinkSmart Hub?
    • The Hub one cable keeps ethernet, HDMIs, USBs, and power securely connected to the unit. It can be fixed with a screw and mounted underneath the desk or table.
  • What are the supported external cable diameters or types?
    • Lenovo recommends HDMI or USB cables with an external nylon mesh sheathing. This allows them to have a better grip, and stay securely in place.
  • What Lenovo-specific software is installed on the ThinkSmart Hub?
    • ThinkSmart Manager is installed
    • Windows 10 IoT Enterprise OS
    • The designated Unified Communication (UC) platform software pre-installed, and all required drivers.
  • Does the ThinkHub Hub support HDMI extenders via Ethernet?
    • Yes, the ThinkSmart Hub is a standard HDMI-complaint device, and has been tested to work with products like AMX DXLink HDMI transmitters and receivers.
  • Is network boot supported?
    • Yes, the ThinkSmart Hub supports network boot via Ethernet (RJ45). Restart the Hub and during the boot press F12 multiple times to load the Startup Device Menu. Based on your infrastructure select the IPv4 or IPv6 option to initiate the network boot.
  • Is USB boot supported?
    • Yes, the thinkSmart Hub supports USB boot. Insert a USB key in one of the USB ports, then restart the Hub. During the boot, press F12 multiple times to load the Startup Device Menu. You can select the listed USB key.
  • Are any other Unified Communications (UC) platforms supported?
    • The ThinkSmart Hub is available for different Unified Communication (UC) platforms, but is purchased as a separate device. Today, only one UC platform is supported at a time.
  • Is Wi-Fi connection supported?
    • Zoom requires a hard-wired connection for a first time install. It is a best practice to keep a hard-wired connection, although Wi-Fi is supported/enabled and can be used as a backup.
  • Is Apple OSX compatible with the ThinkSmart Hub?
    • The ThinkSmart Hub is a purpose-built appliance that runs Unified Communications (UC) software on a Windows IoT Enterprise OS. Most UC software providers offer clients for Windows, Android, Apple OSX, and iOS. The HDMI Ingest used to share content via the Hub supports all the operating systems mentioned above.
  • Can presentations or other materials be store in the ThinkSmart Hub for sharing?
    • No, all content sharing happens in real-time through client devices that are connected to the Hub. It does not support storing any user data for sharing during meetings.
  • What are the account or licensing requirements?
    • Zoom Rooms: Zoom Rooms licenses are purchased via the Zoom admininstrator console, or directly from a Zoom account representative.
    • Microsoft Teams Rooms: For Microsoft Teams, refer to Microsoft: Teams Meeting Room Licensing Update
  • Is Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) supported?
    • Yes, CEC is supported when waking the ThinkSmart Hub from monitor-off mode. A monitor that supports CEC can be used to wake-up, or power-on together with the ThinkSmart Hub.
  • What are the network bandwidth requirements to have an optimal audio and video performance?
    • The recommended network bandwidth includes: ovo recommends the following

      Single Screen 2.0 Mbps / 2.0 Mbps
      Dual Screen 2.0 Mbps / 4.0 Mbps
      Triple Screen 2.0 Mbps / 6.0 Mbps
      Screen Share only 150-300 kbps
      Audio only 60-80 kbps

 

  • Is there a list of supported peripherals, for example: cameras, extended microphones, or speakers?
  • Can the ThinkSmart Hub be used as a PC system?
    • It is recommended to only use with Zoom Rooms system, or Microsoft Teams Rooms.
  • After unplugging then re-plugging the RJ45 (Ethernet) cable from the ThinkSmrt Hub, why won't my network connection come back?
    • After losing LAN connectivity, Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms app requires several seconds before it updates the ThinkSmart Hub display to show it is trying to reconnect.
  • How do I go back to Microsoft Teams Rooms from Windows Administrator Account?
    • Press the Start menu, and then check sign out.
