PC not able to sign in to Wi-Fi

Symptom

The PC cannot sign in to Wi-Fi at a hotel or other location. This may occur due to the local ISP adding in a DNS (Domain Name System) that requires a login or registration page.

Operating Systems

Solution

Try one of the following options for Chrome:

  • Go to a non-https site.
  • Force the login page by opening a browser and typing http://192.168.1.1 or http://localhost.

Try one of the following options for Windows:

  • Try a different browser.
  • Go to a non-https site.
  • Force the login page by opening a browser and typing http://192.168.1.1 or http://localhost.
  • Go into command prompt or Windows Powershell and type ipconfig /flushdns. Use the following steps:
    1. Go into command prompt or Windows Powershell (right-click the Windows icon and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
