Intel 13th and 14th Generation Desktop Processor Instability

Symptom

Some Lenovo desktop and workstation products may be affected by an industry-wide issue related to instability of Intel 13th and 14th generation desktop processors.

CPU instability is typically associated with recurring operating system and application hangs and/or errors.  Device driver, software, and other hardware components may also cause these symptoms.  Diagnostic and standard troubleshooting activities need to be performed to identify the cause of the symptom.

This issue does not affect laptops and other lower power processors.

To determine if your system is potentially affected, identify the information below (Machine Type, Processor, BIOS Version.)

  • Windows:
  1. Open System Information
  2. Select System Summary
  3. Locate the System Model item and value    (The first 4 digits is the Machine Type)
  4. Locate the Processor item and value
  5. Locate the BIOS Version/Date item and value
