Steps and instructions to resolve blank screen, freeze or unresponsive Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) on the ThinkSmart device

Symptom

Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) has a blank screen, does not respond, or react both the touch display and external HDMI monitor when:

  • An HDMI external monitor is connected to a ThinkSmart device.
  • The ThinkSmart device has a blank or black screen.
  • The ThinkSmart device is not used for an extended period of time.
  • The user taps on Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) on the ThinkSmart device touch display, however the ThinkSmart device does not respond.

Solution

Try to following:

  1. Restart the ThinkSmart device. If issue persists:
  2. Update the HDMI external monitor software, firmware or drivers to the latest version. If the issue persists:
  3. Connect a HDMI EDID Emulator, that supports 1920x1080p resolutions, between the ThinkSmart device and the HDMI external monitor.
