Notes
  • After the Resetting the Cryptographic Key of FDE is done, you cannot boot your computer from the SSD nor read data in the SSD. The SSD itself makes a cryptographic key and manages it, but the ThinkPad computer does not store any cryptographic key information. Once a new cryptographic key is defined by doing the Resetting the Cryptographic Key, as there is no way to restore the previous key, recovery of the SSD data is impossible.

 

Installation Instructions
Note:
  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
  1. Attach a DOS bootable disk to USB port.
  2. Unzip 84FD01WW.ZIP, and extract DRVMENU.EXE, and copy it to the disk of 1.
  3. Attach the USB disk to the target ThinkPad.
  4. Turn on the computer.
  5. From DOS command prompt, execute DRVMENU.EXE If the request is processed, the program returns 0. Otherwise, it returns 255 with an error message.
    1. View the current setting
      drvmenu
    2. Enable the menu
      drvmenu -e
    3. Disable the menu
      drvmenu -d
    4. To get help information
      drvmenu -h or -?

 

Using the SSD menu

If a SSD is attached to a ThinkPad, a menu 'Solid State Drive', will be shown in the BIOS Setup.
Security -> Solid State Drive

If this menu is selected, below menu will be shown.
Erase Solid State Drive in the HDD bay [Enter]

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer, while the logo is displayed, press the F1 key to enter the BIOS Setup.
  3. Select the Security menu Solid State Drive.
  4. The following is displayed. Press Enter key.
    Erase the Solid State Drive in the HDD bay [Enter]
  5. A caution message and Yes/No selection is displayed for SSD erase continue or quit.
  6. 'Yes' shows next confirmation message, Yes/No selection is for SSD erase continue or quit.
  7. 'Yes' shows a password prompt if it's previousely set. If it's a correct password, then complete message will be shown.

Note:
An hard disk password will be deleted by this process.

 

Determining which version is installed

Run DRVMENU.EXE with no parameter. Version information is displayed on the screen.
