Description
Describes using the Capture app within the ThinkReality VRX dock, for casting, screenshot, or screen recording when connected to:
- Device that has a browser
- Smart TV
- Amazon Fire Stick/Fire TV
- Roku
Applicable Devices
Prerequisites
- For Casting:
- Applications must be running Qualcomm Spaces 0.19.1 or newer in order for the application to be able to run during a casting session.
- To a Device that has a browser:
- The device must be on the same WiFi network as the ThinkReality VRX.
- Must be able to input URL provided via Capture app.
- Must be able to input PIN code provided via Capture app.
- To a Smart TV:
- Smart TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network as the ThinkReality VRX.
- Display Mirroring must be enabled. Refer to the Smart TV manuals and documentation before beginning to use the ThinkReality VRX Capture app.
- To a Amazon Fire Stick/Fire TV:
- Amazon Fire Stick/Fire TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network as the ThinkReality VRX.
- Display Mirroring must be enabled. Refer to the Smart TV manuals and documentation before beginning to use the ThinkReality VRX Capture app.
- To a Roku Device:
- Must be in range of the Roku device.
Solution
Steps to cast from the ThinkReality VRX
- Launch Capture app from the ThinkReality VRX dock.
- The Capture window appears, click Casting.
- The Cast windows appears that displays list of available devices:
- Browser
- Smart TV, Fire Stick, Roku
Casting to a device that has a browser
- Select Browser from Available Devices and click Next button.
- Next window appears displaying Web Address to be used on browser device that is to be connected to. Below that is the PIN Code used to confirm a secure connection between ThinkReality VRX and the browser device that is is connected to.
- Cick Start Casting button.
- Go to device with browser that is to be connected to and input the Web Address and then PIN when requested.
- Note: The browser will notify that the connection is not private and will require permission to proceed. Accept the required permission in order to case to the browser.
- Message appears stating You are casting your screen on your browser. Other applications can now be opened and displayed in the browser.
- While casting to browser, screen capture and screen recording can be enabled in the browser. Casting to browser can be stopped either by clicking on the Stop Casting button in the browser or in the Capture app.
Casting to a Smart TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku devices
- Before clicking on Casting, enable display mirroring on device to cast to for selected Smart TVs and Amazon Fire Stick devices. If this is not done, the device may not appear in the Available Devices or may not be able to cast to the device.
- Click on Casting, it may take a few second before the device appears as the list of devices is updated.
- Select TV device.
- Click on Start Casting button. Depending on the network connection, casting to device may require up to 30 seconds.
- Some devices casted may require permission for the ThinkReality VRX to cast to. It may require to click: Allow or Approve to cast to the device.
- The following message appears: You are now casting to your screen on your TV. Other applications can now be opened and displayed on the TV.
Steps to screenshot from the ThinkReality VRX
- Launch Capture app from the ThinkReality VRX dock.
- Click on Screenshot.
- Screenshot displays a 5 second timer count down.
- Screenshot displays a 5 second timer count down.
Steps to screen recording from the ThinkReality VRX
- Launch the Capture app from the ThinkReality VRX dock.
- To start screen recording, click Screen Recording.
- Screen Recording starts with a message stating Screen Recording in progress. The Screen Recording message fades away but continues recording.
- Screen Recording starts with a message stating Screen Recording in progress. The Screen Recording message fades away but continues recording.
- To stop screen recording, launch Capture App again and click on Stop Recording button.
- Screen Recording Done message appears and fades away.
