Symptom
ThinkPad L430 and L530 systems display a blank screen, with a blinking cursor, immediately after powering on and the operating system will not start.

Solution
- Insert a non-bootable USB device (mouse, keyboard, memory) into the USB-3 (blue tab) port and then power on the system and it will boot to the operating system.
- Update the BIOS to version 2.57 or higher, from the following URL: BIOS Update Utility for Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), 8 (32-bit, 64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad L430, L530
- After the BIOS update automatically restarts the system, the hang issue will be resolved.
Workaround
- Insert a non-bootable USB device (mouse, keyboard, memory) into any USB port, then power on the system.
- Go to the ThinkPad Setup menu.
- Click Security, click I/O Port Access and click Bluetooth.
- Change the setting from Enabled to Disabled.
- Press F10 to save the setting.
- Restart the system and the operating system will start up.
