Solution

Intel vPro® remote management features can be used via a proxy server by manually configuring the proxy in Windows settings on ThinkSmart devices. Automatic proxy settings are not supported by Intel vPro.

To manually configure a proxy server in Windows and enable Intel vPro remote management features, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to the ThinkSmart device’s Windows Administrator account. For information, click: Using the Windows Administrator Account, and Administrator Password on a ThinkSmart device or the ThinkSmart Manager portal.
  2. Navigate to Windows settings by selecting the Start button, then select Settings.
  3. Select Network & Internet, then Proxy.
    Settings
  4. Scroll down to Manual proxy setup.
    Network
  5. Set the Use a proxy server toggle switch to On.
    Edit proxy
  6. Enter the proxy server’s name or IP address. If required, enter the proxy server’s port number.
  7. Select Save.
  8. Restart the ThinkSmart device.
  9. Log in to ThinkSmart Manager portal (https://portal.thinksmart.lenovo.com) and assign a ThinkSmart Manager license to the ThinkSmart device. If a license is already assigned, unassign the license, wait for one to two minutes, and then assign the license again.
