Applicable Systems

Prerequisites

  • A compatible Windows 10/11 IoT ThinkSmart compute device, or a Windows 10/11 Desktop, Laptop computer.
  • Connect the ThinkSmart Bar 180 to the compatible Windows device

Solution

To update the ThinkSmart Bar 180 firmware, follow these steps:

Step 1. Install the firmware updater application

  1. Click [Download] ThinkSmart Bar 180 Firmware Updater Utility and download to a compatible Windows device.
  2. Double-click the installer.
  3. Follow the instructions to complete the installation process:

    Completing updates

After the installation is complete, the application can be started from Windows Start Menu or if created, from the Windows Desktop shortcut.

Step 2. Running the firmware updater application

  1. Start the application. If the ThinkSmart Bar 180 is not connected to a compatible Windows device, the following appears:
    Updater
  2. After clicking Next, the ThinkSmart Bar 180 should be detected, and one of the following appears.
    • ThinkSmart Bar 180 has latest firmware: The following appears YOUR FIRMWARE IS UP TO DATE.
      Update Firmware
      Click to close the application.
    • ThinkSmart Bar 180 needs to be updated: The following appears NEW VERSION AVAILABLE. Click Update Firmware.
      Updater Message
      During the update, a progress bar is displayed.
      Updating the firmware
      When the firmware update is complete, the following appears:
      Update Complete
      Click Exit to close.
Note: If there are multiple ThinkSmart Bar 180 devices, you are able to continue updating the additional ThinkSmart Bar 180 devices from the Update completed step.

 

Step 3 (Optional): Removing the firmware updater application

After the ThinkSmart Bar 180 firmware has been updated, the firmware tool can be removed from the Windows device.
