BIOS Configuration management feature on ThinkSmart Manager portal

Description

Describe the BIOS Configuration management feature on the ThinkSmart Manager portal (portal.thinksmart.lenovo.com).

ThinkSmart Manager Owners and Administrators can create a set of BIOS configurations which can be applied to devices in the organization.

BIOS configurations include:

  • Enhanced Power Saving Mode
  • After Power Loss
  • USB Support

Device Configuration BIOS Configuration
 

Note:The BIOS Configuration feature is only supported on Windows 11 IoT devices.

Solution

To create a set of BIOS configurations, go to Device Configurations, and click the Create Configuration button.

Device configuration

Enter the name of the Device configuration, and select the Device Type.

The table below describes the various settings.

BIOS Setting Description Default Setting
Enhanced Power Saving Mode When set to On, helps to reduce the consumption of electricity when the computer is off or in sleep mode.

To wake up the device, perform one the following:
  • Press the power button.
  • Enable the Wake Up on the Alarm feature to have the device wake up at a set time.
Off
After Power Loss The following is available:
  • Power Off: Select if the device is to remain off after power restored.
  • Power On. Select if a power strip is used to turn the device on.
  • Last State: Select if the device to be returned to the previous state.
Last State
USB Support When set to On, all USB ports on the device are enabled.
When set to Off, all USB ports on the device are disabled.

Click the device, go to the Configuration tab, and select Device section. The following appears:

Configuration

Turn Change BIOS settings toggle to on, to see the list of available configurations. The list contains configurations which are available only for a model of the selected device.

Click Save button to apply changes.
