Steps and instructions to fix when remote desktop of Windows system produces unusual sounds

Use the following steps to play sound on a local machine when using a remote desktop. For general sound issues, see Troubleshooting audio issues - ThinkPad.

1. Press the Win key and the R key at the same time, or go to the Start menu and select Run, then type mstsc.

2. Click Show Options.

3. Click the Local Resources tab, then Settings under Remote Audio.

4. Set Remote audio playback to Play on this computer to listen to remote audio.
