Solution

Due to their compact size, many Lenovo laptops do not include a dedicated numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard, like a Lenovo desktop computer. To conserve space, numeric keypad keys are shared keys with a block of keys in the center of the keyboard.

To use the numeric keypad on a laptop, enable the NumLock key on the keyboard. The NumLock key is used to convert part of the main keyboard to act as a numeric keypad rather than letters. When enabled, NumLock lets you use the 7-8-9, u-i-o, j-k-l and m keys as a numeric keypad.

The NmLk key is located on the top, right hand side of the keyboard. Sometimes it is on the same key as F8, F7, or Insert. Press Fn+F8, F7, or Insert to enable/disable numlock. Check the manual for more information about the Num Lock key, How to find and view manuals for Lenovo products - ThinkPad, ThinkCentre, ideapad, ideacentre.
