Memory Module Replacement - ThinkCentre M83, M93p Small Form Factor Desktop

  1. To remove the computer cover, we must remove two thumb screws in the back of the machine. The first thumb screw. And the second thumb screw.
  2. Then we’re going to press down on the release button, and slide the cover towards the rear of the chassis and remove it.
  3. Now we are going to pull outward on the clips to release the bezel.
  4. Now we are going to swing the front bezel open like a door and remove it.
  5. And now we’re going to remove the fan duct, which is done by pulling these two clips apart, and then lifting the fan duct from the system.
  6. PCI Express card slots come with a clip that needs to be pulled back in order to release the card. Because it is difficult to see this clip with the card installed, I’ve removed the card in order to show you.
  7. To remove the PCI Express card, we just lift up on this retaining latch until it opens.
  8. And then reach in and press inward on the retaining clip, and pull the card out of the socket and then out of the system.
  9. Now we need to open the drive bay assembly. To do so, we must pull inward on this latch marked with the blue touch point and then pivot the drive bay assembly upwards until the clip springs into place.
  10. Now in order to remove the memory module you just have to push these two clips apart until the module is released from the socket, and then lift it from the system.
  11. Here we have our replacement memory module.
  12. When replacing the memory module, we need to ensure that the notch in the module is aligned with the tab in the slot.
  13. You just align the module with the slot and press down on either edge until the clips lock into place.
  14. To close the drive bay assembly, we want to press inward on the lever marked with the blue touch point and pivot the drive bay down until it latches into place.
  15. To replace the PCI Express card, insert it into the chassis at an angle and then align it with the socket, and press down until the card is fully seated.
  16. Then you’re going to flip up the retaining clip and press down until it latches.
  17. To replace the fan duct, you just align the duct with the fan and then press down on the duct until the two clips lock into place.
  18. When replacing the front bezel, there are three hinge clips that we want to align with the three holes on the inside of the chassis.
  19. You’re going to line those up and then close the front bezel like a door.
  20. We’re going to press inward on the clips to secure the front bezel.
  21. When replacing the computer cover, we want to ensure that we are lining up the tabs on the cover with the slots in the chassis. Just place the cover down onto the chassis and slide it forward.
  22. Finally we replace two thumb screws in the rear of the machine. First thumb screw. And the second thumb screw.
