Symptom

ThinkPad L430 and L530 systems display a blank screen, with a blinking cursor, immediately after powering on and the operating system will not start.

Solution

1. Insert a non-bootable USB device (mouse, keyboard, memory) into the USB-3 (blue tab) port and then power on the system and it will boot to the operating system.
2. Update the BIOS to version 2.57 or higher, from the following URL: BIOS Update Utility for Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), 8 (32-bit, 64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad L430, L530
3. After the BIOS update automatically restarts the system, the hang issue will be resolved.

Workaround

1. Insert a non-bootable USB device (mouse, keyboard, memory) into any USB port, then power on the system.
2. Go to the ThinkPad Setup menu.
3. Click Security, click I/O Port Access and click Bluetooth.
4. Change the setting from Enabled to Disabled.
5. Press F10 to save the setting.
6. Restart the system and the operating system will start up.
