Systems listed below have been tested for upgrade to Windows 10 October update (version 1809) from:

• Initial Windows 10 April update (version 1803)
• Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709)
• Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703)
• Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607)

Note: Newer Systems are not listed in this upgrade notice. For these newer systems please refer to the following URL that will show the system and the current supported operating system supported at Partner Center (microsoft.com) or contact your Lenovo Sales office for a Certification letter showing the system family in question has been tested and is supported.

For all Intel processor products:

If you plan to upgrade to Windows 10 October 2018 Update, we strongly recommend that before upgrading, you have Intel® Graphics Driver version 24.20.100.6286 or newer installed on your computer. The reason is that during the upgrade, it will check to see if your computer has Intel® Display Audio Driver versions 10.25.0.3 through 10.25.0.8 installed. If installed, Windows 10 (version 1809) upgrade may be blocked due to issues seen with these drivers. Intel Graphics Driver version 24.20.100.6286 is bundled with Intel Display Audio Driver version 10.25.0.10.

Some Lenovo systems offering Realtck Wifi devices may require a driver update. If your system upgrade experiences issues during the RS5 upgrade process, please execute Microsoft Windows update to validate your systems drivers and BIOS for a successful upgrade.

  The old version of Lenovo Vantage cannot work on the Windows 10 (1809) operating system. If you want to use Lenovo Vantage on Windows 10 (1809), do one of the following:
  1. Update Lenovo Vantage within the app and then upgrade the operating system.
  2. Upgrade the operating system and then update Lenovo Vantage from Microsoft Store
• Computers installed with the Fibocom L850-GL Wireless WAN card
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), your computer might not be able to connect to the LTE (Long-Term Evolution) network. Instead, it will connect to the 3G (HSPA/UMTS) network. This is a limitation when using the L850-GL Wireless WAN card on the Windows 10 (1809) operating system with certain network service providers, such as Docomo in Japan. The limitation had been fixed in December of 2018. Please download the latest Fibocom L850-GL Wireless WAN Driver (version 2.0.1.44 or newer) from Lenovo support website and install it.
• ThinkPad P50, ThinkPad P70
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), when you connect an external display to the HDMI connector on your computer and press the Windows logo key+P, the projector setting cannot be changed to PC screen only. This is a limitation when using the NVIDIA Graphic Card on the new operating system. Lenovo is still working with NVIDIA to provide a better solution.
• ThinkPad X1 Carbon 4th Gen, X1 Tablet Gen 1 with Sierra Wireless Card
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), if you go to Settings -> Network & Internet -> Airplane mode to change the airplane mode settings, the GPS or WLAN switch might not be displayed. This is a system limitation. To change the GPS or WLAN settings, click the action center icon in the Windows notification area and follow the on-screen instructions.
• ThinkPad with Dolby Audio
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), if the Dolby Audio cannot work, do the following:
  1. Go to Control Panel and view by Category. Click Programs ->Programs and Features. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall Dolby Audio X2 Windows App.
  2. Go back to Control Panel and click Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager. Expand Sound, video and game controllers. Right-click Conexant SmartAudio and select Uninstall device.
  3. Select Delete the driver software for this device and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation. Then restart the computer. Ensure that the audio driver has been uninstalled successfully.
  4. Download and install the latest Conexant Audio driver from the Lenovo Support Web site.
• ThinkPad E450, E550, E450c, E550c, E455, E555 with Realtek 8723BE Bluetooth
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), if the Bluetooth does not work, do the following：
  1. Go to Control Panel and view by Category. Click Hardware and Sound ->Device Manager and expand Bluetooth.
  2. Right-click Realtek Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter and select Uninstall device.
  3. Select Delete the driver software for this device and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation. Then restart the computer.
  4. Download and install the latest Realtek Bluetooth driver from the Lenovo Support Web site.
• ThinkPad X380 Yoga with Intel 8265 Bluetooth
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), if the Bluetooth does not work, do the following:
  1. Go to Control Panel and view by Category. Click Hardware and Sound ->Device Manager and expand Bluetooth.
  2. Right-click Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) and select Uninstall device.
  3. Select Delete the driver software for this device and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation. Then restart the computer.
  4. Download and install the latest Intel Bluetooth driver from the Lenovo Support Web site.
• ThinkPad A285
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), if you want to go back to Windows 10 (1803) from Settings->Update & Security->Recovery->Roll back to the previous version of Windows 10, an error occurs. Press ESC to continue or download and install the latest BIOS from Lenovo Support Web site.
• ThinkPad E465, E565 with Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Wireless Network Adapter
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), if the Wireless Display does not work, do the following:
  1. Go to Control Panel and view by Category. Click Hardware and Sound ->Device Manager and expand Network Adapters.
  2. Right-click Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Wireless Network Adapter and select Uninstall device.
  3. Select Delete the driver software for this device and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation. Then restart the computer.
  4. Run Windows Update from Settings -> Update & Security-> Windows Update. Then the latest Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 wireless network adapter driver will be installed automatically.

IdeaPad laptops

  Volume can’t adjusted when Bluetooth speaker connected. You can adjust volume via the software or Bluetooth speaker volume button.

  Turn off Bluetooth and then turn on, can’t reconnect successfully. Restart the system can fix.
• 320-14AST/320-15AST/320-17AST
  Without any operation, high CPU usage rate and the machine’s response not smooth. It due to AMD issue. Lenovo is still working with AMD to fix it.
• MIIX510-12IKB
  Camera will hang up and remind "Something went wrong. Try restarting your device." when use HDR mode take a picture. Close and reopen camera can fix it.
• K41-70/K21-80/S41-70/Yoga 500-15IBD/710s-13ISK/ Xiaoxin Air 13/710s-13IKB/Xiaoxin Air 13IKB
  If you click –start menu---all apps---windows system—file explorer, file explorer can’t open. Press windows key---all apps---windows system—file explorer.

  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), when the computer is connected to a wireless display, the CPU might get over-loaded and the display becomes unstable. To solve the problem, do the following:
  1. Go to Control Panel and view by Category. Click Hardware and Sound ->Device Manager and expand Display Adapters.
  2. Right-click AMD Radeon(TM) R5 Graphics and select Uninstall device.
  3. Select Delete the driver software for this device and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation. Then restart the computer.
  4. Download and install the latest AMD Graphics driver from the Lenovo Support Web site.
• ThinkCentre E74s Desktop with Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Wireless device
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), if the Wi-Fi does not work, connect your computer to a wired Ethernet network. Windows Update will install the Wi-Fi driver automatically.
• The Realtek 723BE Bluetooth driver is not supported on Windows 10 (1809) and its later versions.
• ThinkCentre M820z Desktop
  After upgrading the operating system from Windows 10 (1803) to Windows 10 (1809), if an exclamation mark ! is displayed next to Intel High Definition Audio in Device Manager, please download and install the latest Intel Graphic Driver from the Lenovo Support Web site.
