Troubleshooting Browser Sound Issue on Windows 10 & 11: Solutions & Fixes
Symptom
The browser sound is not audible.
Operating Systems

- Microsoft Windows 11
Solution
Use the following steps to resolve sound issues with the browser. For general sound issues, refer to: Fix audio or sound problems in Windows 10.
Unmute in the Volume Mixer
Step 1: Right-click the speaker icon at the bottom right corner of the desktop and select Open Volume mixer.
Step 2: Once it is open, move the slider to change the volume of the system sound or for a specific program. Adjust the slider to increase the browser's volume.
Clear Browser Cache and Cookies
Cookies save information from websites you visit, making them load faster next time you visit them. However, if you have numerous tabs open at once, this may be problematic for websites using cookies or other kinds of tracking software.
The following steps are for Microsoft Edge. For more information, see Delete cookies in Microsoft Edge.
- To remove cookies, select Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
- Select Choose what to clear under Clear browsing data > Clear browsing data now.
- Under Time range, choose a time range from the list.
- Select Cookies and other site data, and then select Clear now.
Reset Browser Settings
Go to Settings > Reset Settings > Restore settings to their default values.

For Windows 10:
- Go to Settings > System > Sound.
- Click Troubleshoot.
or - Right-click the Sound icon and select Troubleshoot sound problems.
For Windows 11:
Go to Settings > search for sound settings > Troubleshoot common sound problems under Advanced tab.
