Description

Installation instructions

Note:

  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
  • This package does not support overwrite-installation. Before installing new package, please uninstall the older one, shutdown the system, then turn on the system again.
  1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract this package to the hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\TPWUSB
  3. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run...
  4. Specify setup.exe with the full path name of the location where you extracted the package and click OK. EXAMPLE: C:\DRIVERS\TPWUSB\setup.exe
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. If a Digital Signature warning message appears, click Install this driver software anyway.
  7. Restart the computer.

Unattended Installation

Note: Unattended Install for system administrators' use only: At the command line, execute setup.exe with following options.
Setup.exe /S /v"/qn ALLUSERS=1 /skipwarning"

  1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Command Prompt.
  3. At the command line, execute setup.exe with following options. Setup.exe /S /v/qn

Uninstall instructions
Windows Vista
  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs / Uninstall a program.
  3. Select Intel(R) Wireless UWB Link 1480.
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. Click Yes for the confirmation pop-up.
  6. User Account Control pop-up may open. When it opens, click Allow to continue uninstallation

Note:
When you uninstall the ThinkPad Wireless USB Software, if you want to delete the device information you associated with your ThinkPad, remove the device information before uninstallation with the procedure below.

  1. Double click the Wireless USB icon from the Task tray or the icon on the Desktop to open the Wireless USB Connection Manager.
  2. In the Wireless USB Connections tab, one of the Wireless USB device displayed.
  3. Click Disassociate button.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 if you want to remove other devices.
Determining which version is installed
  1. Start Windows.
  2. Double-click the Wireless USB task tray icon, then Wireless USB Control Center will be opened.
  3. Click Wireless USB icon at the top-left of the window, and click "About Wireless USB Control Center".
  4. Check the version displayed in the pop-up. Click OK to close the pop-up window.
