Step 1: Update your driver

A missing or outdated battery driver, or a BIOS setup error can also cause the “Unable to Charge battery” issue. To proceed with a driver update or a BIOS update, click System Update in the Lenovo Vantage. It will automatically check for any updates you may need. Check for BIOS Update or Lenovo Power Management Driver and install. After updating your battery driver or BIOS setup, restart your computer. If you do not have Lenovo Vantage on your computer, please click Lenovo Vantage to install it.

Updates are also available at https://support.lenovo.com/. Go to your product page, then navigate to Drivers & Software, and update your driver and BIOS setup.

Step 2: Do a static discharge
If the battery is removable, remove the battery and hold the power button down for 30 seconds. If the battery is not removable, while the computer is on, hold the power button down and wait for it to shut down, then hold the power button down for another 30 seconds before switching the computer back on.

Check Connection Status
The battery will not charge because the AC adapter is not firmly connected. Please try to connect the AC adapter to your machine again. If that doesn’t help, it could be a problem with the faulty AC adapter. Please make sure that you are using a Lenovo approved AC adapter. It is also recommended that you run the test through another charger.
