This package provides the Bluetooth software for Microsoft Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP. The Bluetooth software enables or updates the Bluetooth function of the following ThinkPad computers integrated with Bluetooth Daughter Card (Integrated Bluetooth).
This release supports the following systems: - ThinkPad A30p (*1) - ThinkPad A31p - ThinkPad T30(*2) - ThinkPad X23, X24 (Bluetooth model only) - ThinkPad X30(*3)
Notes: *1: Windows XP is not supported. *2: Only the following ThinkPad T30 models support Windows Me, other ThinkPad T30 models do not support Windows Me. 2366/2367-x1x, x2x, x3x, x4x, x5x, A6x and A7x except for M1x, M2x, M3x, M4x and M5x *3: Windows Me is not supported. - This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.
If the ThinkPad system already has the Bluetooth Software installed, uninstall the software in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel before installation.
Do not turn on the Bluetooth power before you complete the Bluetooth software installation.
ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/(uninstall) wizard for this package for the following operating systems:
Windows 98SE
Windows Me
Microsoft Windows 2000
Windows XP
Before using the ThinkPad Software Installer, you have to uninstall the previous or current software in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Under Windows XP, when you are turning on Bluetooth daughter card power for the first time after the software installation, the operating system will display the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box. Click the following three buttons: Next, ContinueAnyway, and Finish
Executing setup.exe on the system that the Bluetooth software is already installed detects the existing software and removes it. Run setup.exe again to update to the latest software.
During the installation, do not touch the keyboard, the TrackPoint, or the mouse.
When you use this software under Windows XP, confirm that you are using ThinkPad Utility for Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP version 1.23 or later.
Uninstall
Click Start, select Settings, click ControlPanel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Select Bluetooth Software and click Remove.
Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
Click OK when the Information dialog box is displayed, that states: "Please power off your Bluetooth device before continuing with the uninstallation"
Note: If this message is not displayed, click the Information icon displayed in the task bar. Until this button is pressed, the uninstallation does not continue.
Install
Start Windows 98SE/Me, or Windows 2000/XP with administrative privileges.
Click Start and then click Run.
Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\BDC\SETUP in the Open box and click OK.
Click Next in Bluetooth Software InstallShield wizard.
Enter the Device Name, select Laptop for Device Type, and click Next.
Click Next.
Click Install.
Click Finish.
Click Yes to restart the computer.
After restarting the computer, press the Bluetooth power button. The Bluetooth LED will activate and Integrated Bluetooth device driver will be loaded.
Unattended install
Note: This is for system administrators' use only
Start Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges.
Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
Click Start and then click Run.
Type one of the following command lines:
For systems that will not reboot automatically, C:\DRIVERS\WIN\BDC\setup.exe /s /w /v"/q DEVICETYPE=12 REBOOT=ReallySuppress
For systems that will reboot automatically, C:\DRIVERS\WIN\BDC\setup.exe /s /w /v"/q DEVICETYPE=12
III. Determining which version is installed
Note: The version of the Bluetooth daughter card displayed in Device Manager is 1.4.2.8. To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your ThinkPad system:
Open My Bluetooth Places
Click Help and then About My Bluetooth Places. The version number is displayed as 1.4.2 Build 18 SP 0
