Memory Module Replacement - ThinkStation S30
- Today we are going to replace the Memory Module. This process will take about ten minutes, and it should be easy enough for anyone to do. There are no tools required to do this.
- Before we continue we need to make sure that we are protected against electrostatic discharge or ESD. Make sure to shut down the computer and disconnect all cables and accessories from the system. Now that we’re ready, let’s get started.
- Before we can remove the computer cover we first need to assure that it is unlocked. Then we just need to press upward on the release button then lift the cover up and off of the chassis.
- To open the adapter card retainer we just need to press down and outward on the handle and swing it open.
- Before removing the memory coolers we must first disconnect the fan cable from the system board. Next we’re going to press down on the tab and lift the memory cooler up and off of the memory.
- To remove the memory module we just want to press outward on the clips to release the module. Then we can grasp it by the edges, lift it up and out of the system.
- Here we have our replacement memory module. When replacing the memory module we want to make sure to align the notch on the module with the tab on the socket. Once we have those aligned we can just press down on the edges until the clips lock into place.
- Now we’re going to place the cooler down at an angle over top of the memory and press down on the clip end until it locks into place. Now we’re going to connect the fan cable to the system board.
- Now we’re going to close the adapter card retainer.
- When replacing the computer cover we want to assure that this lip on the cover fits over top of this lip on the chassis. Once you have those lined up you can lower the cover onto the chassis and then in the top middle press down until it locks into place. Finally we’re going to lock the cover.
