How to update to the latest drivers

Updating Drivers using Device Manager and Lenovo Support (support.lenovo.com) website:

“Driver” is software that allows your Operating System to communicate with hardware & devices. Keeping your system drivers up-to-date will help you get the best performance from your computer. Let us see how to get the latest driver for your Lenovo system.

In this video, we will use Display driver as the example, but the process is similar for most other drivers. The first step is to know the version of the Display driver currently installed on your computer.

To do that, go to START and Type Device Manager, and open Device Manager. In the Device Manager window, expand “Display Adapters”, here your will find the video cards installed on the computer. Double-click the video card to open the Video Card Properties window. Go to the driver tab and make a note of the version. Open a web browser, and open support.lenovo.com.

Click “Downloads”. You can search for the product by typing the model number on the search box, or you can choose “Detect my Product” and click “I Agree” to install a small plugin which will let the website detect your system. Once the product is selected, under the “Downloads” Tab, Click the “Component” drop down and select “Display and Video Graphics”. Select your “Operating System” in the drop down. You will now see the video drivers available for your system. Select the video card and check for the version of the driver.

If the version on Lenovo support site is newer than the one you find on your system, then click the “Download icon”. Else, you already have the latest driver installed. Once the “Download icon” is clicked, the driver file starts to download. Double-click the downloaded driver file and click “Run” to install the drivers. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

You can also update the driver using the “Update Driver” option in the video card properties. Under the Driver tab, click “Update Driver” and follow the on screen instructions. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice. This will search online for the appropriate driver for your video card. That’s it. Your Display adapter now has the latest driver. You can follow the same process to update drivers for Sound Card, Bluetooth, Network adaptors, Wireless, and so on. Keep the drivers up-to-date and get the best of your Lenovo system.
