Internal Storage Drive Replacement - ThinkStation E32 (30A2 and 30A3) (Small Form Factor)

  1. Before removing the computer cover, we must first remove two thumb screws.
  2. So now we're going to press downward on the release latch, slide the cover towards the rear of the system and remove it.
  3. Now we're going to open the drive bay assembly.
  4. To do this we just need to press the release lever inward, tilt the drive bay assembly up and allow the lever to lock into place.
  5. In order to remove the internal storage drive we must first disconnect the SATA and the power cables.
  6. Then we're going to grasp the bracket by the handle and slide the drive out of the bay.
  7. Now we're going to remove the drive from the bracket.
  8. You just want to stretch the bracket away from the drive until the pins can exit the holes.
  9. Here we have our replacement internal storage drive.
  10. Now we're going to place the drive into the bracket.
  11. You want the handle end of the bracket to be on the same side as the connector end of the drive.
  12. Then you're just going to place the pins on the bracket into the holes on the drive.
  13. You may have to stretch the bracket away from the drive to get the pins all the way in.
  14. Now we need to align the bracket with the bay and slide it in until it locks into place.
  15. Then we need to connect the power and the SATA cable.
  16. Now we're going to close the drive bay assembly.
  17. To do this, we just need to press inward on the release button and tilt the drive bay assembly down until it locks into place.
  18. When replacing the cover it is important that the tabs on the cover align with the holes in the chassis.
  19. Once you line those up you just want to slide the cover forward.
  20. Now we're going to replace two thumb screws.
