Steps and instructions to reset this PC by pressing the NOVO button - ideaPad

Description

This document describes the steps for Reset this PC by pressing the Novo button. The Novo button is either a small button or pinhole with a backwards arrow icon next to it resembing an upside down U Novo button icon.

Note:

Solution

  1. Set the PC to the power off status, then use the tip of an unfolded paper clip (or similar object with a sharp tip) to gently press the Novo button. The Novo button menu will be shown as in the image below, then choose System Recovery.

    Note: After clicking System recovery, some PCs with Lenovo OneKey recovery preloaded will go to the Lenovo OneKey Recovery interface. For details, see this document Backup and restore system via Lenovo OneKey Recovery.

  2. Click Troubleshoot -> Reset this PC.

  3. Two options are available:
    • Keep my files will remove all apps and programs that did not come with this PC, change settings back to their default, and reinstall Windows without removing your personal files. See Step 4.
    • Remove everything will remove your personal files, accounts, and apps/programs that did not come with this PC and any changes made to the settings. See Step 6.

  4. Click Keep my files. Choose the user, then key in the password.

  5. Click Reset to proceed with the AC adapter plugged in.

  6. Click Remove everything. The following operation will remove all your personal files in the designated hard disk.
    • Only the drive where Windows is installed will recover Disk C only.
    • All drives will recover all disks.

  7. Choose an option.

  8. Click Reset to proceed with the AC adapter connected.
