IdeaPad P580 doesn't seem to understand any kind of gestures or scrolling when using the Touchpad.
When starting up the machine, the only driver installed by default for the mouse was a default "Microsoft PS/2 Mouse".

The correct touchpad drivers should be installed in order to provide the advanced functions of the touchpad. If generic mouse / touchpad drivers are installed or incorrect touchpad driver is installed, some features may not be available, and the touchpad may function erratically.
Go to Lenovo's support site and download the "Touchpad" driver package for your version of Windows. After download, click .exe file and the driver will be auto installed (despite the driver package is a wizard of 3 touchpad manufacturers: Synaptics, Elantech, Cypress, it will auto define and install based on your hardware.)
