      BSOD 7B (Inaccessable Boot Device) error occurs during reboot after Bitlocker Drive Encryption

      Symptom

      With Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate operating system, a BSOD 7B (Inaccessable Boot Device) error may occur during the first reboot when the user restarts the system without shutting down, after the Bitlocker Drive Encryption.

      Affected configuration

      The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

      ThinkPad:

      • ThinkPad T430, T530, W530, T430s, X230, X230 Tablet
      Applies to:
      • Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise edition
      Additional Information

      The root cause of this issue is under investigation by Microsoft.

      Solution

      None

      Workaround

      After the user encrypts the drive with Bitlocker Encryption, shut down the system without rebooting, and the user will not see the error.
