      Software Update to Lenovo OneKey Recovery v5.0 - Lenovo 3000 K100, IdeaCentre K200, K210, Q200

      STATEMENT DESCRIPTION:

      Lenovo has released a software update to Lenovo OneKey Recovery, version 5.0. This new software updates Lenovo OneKey Recovery to version 5.2.

      Lenovo Recommends installing this software update.

      AFFECTED CONFIGURATIONS:

      The above symptom may occur on the following system:

      Lenovo 3000 K100, IdeaCentre K210, IdeaCentre K200 and IdeaCentre Q200

      SOLUTION:

      Software Update Installation Process:

      A: Determining version of Lenovo OneKey Recovery

      Install this update if the version of OneKey Recovery in your system is 5.0. To determine the version of OneKey Recovery, follow this process:

      1. Click "START" on the Windows Vista taskbar.

      2. On the search bar (which also reads as "Start Search"), type in Regedt32.exe and press "ENTER".

      3. Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,

      4. Click on SOFTWARE,

      5. Click on LENOVO, and then select "Multirecover".

      6. The OneKey Recovery version should read 5.00.0000 or 5.01.0000 on the Registry Editor. If OneKey Recovery version is 5.0 (5.00 or 5.01), proceed to section B. Otherwise, you do not need to apply the update and instructions provided on this document.

      Note:

      Access to Windows Registry on this Tip is only intended to review the version of OneKey Recovery. Please, DO NOT change or edit any of the registries, as it could affect normal Windows operation.

      B: Loading Lenovo OneKey Recovery software update to installation package

      If your system is configured with OneKey Recovery version 5.0, download the update file using the link provided below and save it on a desired location in the hard drive:

      After downloading the file, follow these instructions to load it to installation package:

      1. Double-click on okrupdate_v3.exe,

      2. Read the description on the installation window and click OK to continue.

      3. When the update has been loaded, the installation window will display this message "OKR installation package has been updated" .

      4. Click Finish and proceed to section C.

      C: How to determine if Instant Backup is disabled

      1. Click "START" on the Windows Vista Taskbar.

      2. Select "PROGRAMS" and then "Lenovo".

      3. Select the "OneKey Recovery" folder and click on the "Lenovo OneKey Recovery" application.

      4. On the "User Account Control" window that pops, select "Continue".

      5. After choosing "Continue", the "OneKey Recovery" window is displayed.

      6. Take a look at the selection buttons on the window. If "CREATE BASE BACKUP" is the only selectable button, then Instant Backup is disabled.

      7. Click "Exit" and proceed to section D if Instant Backup is disabled, otherwise continue to section E.

      D: Uninstalling OneKey Recovery version 5.0 when Instant backup is disabled

      Once the update file is loaded, uninstall OneKey Recovery v5.0 following these instructions if instant backup is disabled, otherwise move to the next section:

      1. Click "START" on the Windows Vista taskbar.

      2. Select "Programs" and then "Lenovo Applications".

      3. Select "Lenovo OneKey Recovery" and then click on "Uninstall OneKey Recovery".

      4. On the "User Account Control" window, press CONTINUE.

      5. A "Lenovo OneKey Recovery" window pops with this message "Are you sure you want to uninstall Lenovo OneKey Recovery and all of its components completely?" After reading the statement, click YES to continue.

      6. Another window will pop called "Delete the program from your computer". This Window goes away after the process is done. When this happens, RESTART the system.

      7. Proceed to section F.

      E: Uninstalling OneKey Recovery version 5.0 when Instant backup is enabled

      Once the update is loaded, uninstall OneKey Recovery v5.0 following these instructions:

      Note: When this process is complete, the system restarts automatically. Please save all your data and close all applications before you execute these instructions.

      1. Click "START" on the Windows Vista taskbar.

      2. Select "Programs" and then "Lenovo Applications".

      3. Select "Lenovo OneKey Recovery" and then click on "Uninstall OneKey Recovery".

      4. On the "User Account Control" window, press CONTINUE.

      5. A "Lenovo OneKey Recovery" window pops with this message "Are you sure you want to uninstall Lenovo OneKey Recovery and all of its components completely?" After reading the statement, click YES to continue.

      6. Another Lenovo OneKey Recovery window displays this message "To uninstall Lenovo OneKey Recovery you must restart your computer immediately. After the system restarts, the program will continue to execute some uninstallation operations automatically (you must choose permit at the prompt for user account control!)" Click YES to continue.

      7. The next OneKey Recovery window will ask to "Please select a backup file to recover." Just click the Uninstall button to continue.

      8. When the process completes, the system restarts automatically

      9. Proceed to section F.

      F: Installing OneKey Recovery version 5.2

      After uninstalling OneKey Recovery v5.0 and restarting your system, follow this instructions to install OneKey Recovery v5.2:

      1. Click "START" on the Windows Vista taskbar.

      2. Select "Programs" and then Lenovo Applications.

      3. Click on Driver & Application Installation.

      4. The window "Smart installation of the driver" is displayed. Click on "Bundled Software Installation".

      5. On the "User Account Control" window, click "ALLOW".

      6. At the "Bundled software installation" window, select "WINDOWS OKR" and click "INSTALL THE SELECTED SOFTWARE".

      7. Another window is displayed with this message "Software installation completed, the computer will restart. Please exit all applications and save your data before you restart the computer." Press "OK" to restart the syste

      Note:

      Updating Lenovo OneKey Recovery from version 5.0 to version 5.2 using OKRUPDATE_V3.EXE, does not affect your hard drive partitioning configuration or normal system operation.

      Moreover, this software update will be lost if the system image is restored to the Factory Backup or Original Backup by running either one of these Lenovo OneKey Recovery functions: "Restore Factory Backup" or "Restore Original Backup". In such case, the update has to be reinstalled on the system following the process stated on this document.
