How to enable touchpad virtual scrolling (Mouse wheel) of Lenovo notebook

Affected Configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • IdeaPad
  • Lenovo
Applies to
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows XP
Solution

To achieve this function, you have to download and install corresponding touchpad driver. In addition, when performing this function, you need to slide along the scrolling line on the right of the touchpad.

   

Note:Steps to download drivers:

  1. Goto "http://support.lenovo.com"
  2. Keyin your product name (ie B560, G230, 100) using the "Search for your product" option.
  3. Click on your product name.
  4. Click on "Download" tab. You will see your drivers arranged in categories.
  5. Select the related category and download your driver.

To enable touchpad scrolling, it is need to set relevant options of “Mouse” in “Control Panel” as shown in the following figures (The following figures may vary from your machine due to different driver versions).

Windows 7/Vista/XP

Method 1: Synaptics touchpad setting

  1. Double-click “Mouse” -->“Mouse properties” --> click "Settings" under "Device Settings”.

  2. Click “Virtual scrolling” and select “Enable Vertical Scrolling”.

Windows 8.1

  1. Double-click “Mouse” -->“Mouse properties” --> click "Settings" under "Device Settings”.

  2. Click “Multi-Finger” and select “Enable Vertical Scrolling”.

Method 2 :  ALPS touchpad setting

  1. Double-click “Mouse” --> click the “Gestures” tag --> select “Use scrolling”.

Method 3: ELANTECH (KTP) touchpad setting
