      Blue screen with error message "STOP 0x0000007B (0xF78D6528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)" when installing Windows XP using Product Recovery Discs - ThinkCentre M90 and M90p


      When using the external USB Optical drive, you may see a blue screen with an error message "STOP 0x0000007B (0xF78D6528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)" when installing Windows XP using Product Recovery Discs. This will appear after completing display progress bar with "ThinkVantage Technologies" when loading Rescue and Recovery Disc.

      Affected configurations

      The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

      • ThinkCentre M90, M90p

      Additional Information:

      • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
      • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

      The system is without an internal optical drive and the following external optical disc drive is used, but not limited to, the following drive:

      - Lenovo USB Portable DVD Burner 43N3264
      - Part Number: 43N3265 FRU Number: 43N3266

      Utilize F6 installation method.

      1. Click here to download the package Intel Matrix Storage RAID driver "q1rad06us13.exe".
      2. Extract all driver files from the installation package.
      3. Create a diskette containing the following files in the root directory: iaAhci.inf, iaAhci.cat, iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat, iaStor.sys, and TxtSetup.oem.
      4. Attach USB FDD to any USB port, then insert the diskette.
      5. Power on system.
      6. Press F12 key to enter Startup Device Menu.
      7. Insert "Rescue and Recovery Disc" for Windows XP on CD tray.
      8. Select "USB ODD1: xxxxxxxxxx" then press ENTER to continue.
      9. As soon as display "F6" feed message, press F6 keys.

        | Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver...

      10. After completing progress bar, you will see the following screen.
        Then, select "S" to Specify Additional Device.
        | Setup could not determine the type of one or more mass storage devices
        | installed in your system, or you have chosen to manually specify an adapter.
        | Currently, Setup will load support for the following mass storage devices(s):
        | AMD AHCI Compatible RAID Controller-x86 platform
        | Marvell 64xx/63xx SAS Controller 32bit Driver
        | * To specify additional SCSI adapters, CD-ROM drivers, or special
        | disk controllers for use with Windows, including those for
        | which you have a device support disk from a mass storage device
        | manufacturer, press S.
        | * if you do not have any device support disks from a mass storage
        | device manufacturer, or do not want to specify additional
        | mass storage devices for use with Windows, press ENTER.
        | S= Specify Additional device ENTER= Continue F3= Exit

      11. You will see the following list. Then, scroll up to find a certain adapter, "Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller" to highlight the selection that is appropriate for the hardware in your system and press ENTER.
        | You have chosen to configure a SCSI Adapter for use with Windows,
        | using a device support disk provided by an adapter manufacturer.
        | Select the SCSI Adapter you want from the following list, or press ESC
        | to return to the previous screen.
        || Intel(R) ICH7R/DH SATA RAID Controller
        || Intel(R) ICH7MDH SATA RAID Controller
        || Intel(R) ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R/DO/5 Series/3400 Series SATA RAID Controller
        || Intel(R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E/5 Series SATA RAID Controller
        | ENTER= Select F3= Exit

      12. Press Enter again to continue. Leave the diskette in the system until the next reboot as the software will need to be copied from the diskette again when setup is copying files.
