When updating the system BIOS from a level less than 29A to BIOS 29A or greater, two possible symptoms may occur inside of Microsoft Windows on the following reboot:
- Intel HD Graphics driver redetection and reboot.
- Video resolution will change back to default 800x600 or 1024x768.
The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:
This behavior is working as designed, and is due to a feature that was added into BIOS level 29A to support additional revisions of Intel CPUs.
If the redetection occurs, the driver will reinstall itself automatically and will request that the user reboot their system. After the reboot, the system will function normally.
Some customers may also discover that their preferred video resolution and refresh rate may change back to the default setting of 800x600 or 1024x768 resolutions. Customers who experience this issue should simply change their display resolution back to their preferred value using the Control Panel->Display->Adjust Resolution feature in the Windows OS.
