Solution

  1. Remove the Fingerprint Reader software.
    1. Search for and select Control Panel.

    2. From Control Panel (View by: Category), choose Programs.
      Programs
    3. Select Programs and Features.
    4. Select Uninstall a program. Right-click the application name from the list (such as Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro) and select Uninstall.
    5. Perform the instructions displayed to uninstall the software.
  2. Set up fingerprints in Windows Hello in Windows 10. See the following Microsoft link for more information:

If issues still occur with the Fingerprint software, try updating drivers.

  1. Uninstall the Synaptics device from Device Manager.
  2. Type and select Device Manager in Search.

  3. Expand the Biometric Devices section.

  4. Right-click the Synaptics device and select Uninstall (check the also remove all the software attached to this device option, if available).
  5. Install the driver package from our web site or use Lenovo System Update or Lenovo Vantage. For more information, see: Popular Topics: Drivers, Drivers Update.
    Updates are also available with the automatic scan option:
    1. Go to https://support.lenovo.com.
    2. Select Detect Product.

    4. Select Scan Now under Automatic Updates and scan for updates.

  6. In Device Manager, right-click the top of the tree and select Scan for hardware changes. After a while the unknown device should be recognized as the Synaptics device.
  7. Restart the computer.
