[Video] DC-In Cable Replacement - ThinkPad T570, P51s Laptop

  1. Before we continue, we need to make sure we're protected against electrostatic discharge, or ESD.
  2. Shut down the computer and disconnect all cables and accessories from the system.
  3. Disable the built-in battery.
  4. Disconnect the power adapter, press the Power button, and tap the F1 key.
  5. Once the computer is in setup mode, navigate to the config menu and then down to the power menu
  6. Hit enter.
  7. Navigate down to disable built-in battery and hit enter.
  8. Hit enter again and the built-in battery is disabled.
  9. Press the latch marked with a one to the unlocked position.
  10. Press the latch marked with a two to the unlocked position and hold it, and slide the battery out of the slot.
  11. Now we need to loosen the screws in the bottom cover.
  12. Use the spudger or non-metallic pry tool to pry up the edges around the bottom cover.
  13. Lift the cover from the system.
  14. Disconnect the internal battery from the system board.
  15. Remove two screws from the bracket.
  16. Lift the bracket from the system.
  17. Lift the power connector from the chassis and disconnect the cable from the system board.
  18. Connect the DC-in cable to the system board.
  19. Place the power connector into position on the chassis, then cover it with the bracket.
  20. Install two screws.
  21. Connect the internal battery cable to the system board.
  22. Place the bottom cover into position.
  23. Press down around the edges to lock the clips.
  24. Tighten the screws.
  25. Place the battery into position and slide it forward to lock it in place.
  26. To re-enable the built-in battery, just connect the power adapter.
