Specific keys stop working or incorrect characters are displayed when typing -100e Chromebook

Symptom

The 1,3,4,5,G,Z,C,V,B,Q,E,R,T,A,D,F keys may stop working, or when typing other keys, incorrect characters or actions may happen:

  • "z" key outputs ZCVX
  • "a" key tries to bookmark page
  • "1" key outputs 1428709

Workaround

  1. Turn off Chromebook.
  2. Press and hold Refresh Refresh + tap Power Power.
  3. When Chromebook starts up, release Refresh Refresh.

If the above steps restore the keyboard to normal operation, report the problem to Google.

If the above steps do not restore the keyboard to normal operation, contact Lenovo Service for additional support.

Solution

Google will release a fix for this issue in a future Chromebook operating system update.
