Unknown device is listed under Windows Device Manager in Lenovo Solution Center (LSC)



There is an unknown device listed in Lenovo Solution Center (LSC) when the user clicks on Check-up and then Device Manager, as the drive is not installed, but no such device can be found under Windows Device Manager.

This is a false report from LSC.


Affected Configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • ThinkPad

Affected Systems (machine types, model types):

  • ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Type 34xx) Touch
  • ThinkPad Twist S230u
  • ThinkPad Helix (Type 3xxx), X1 Helix (Type 3xxx) and X1 Helix (Type 3xxx) 3G


System is Configured With
  • ThinkPad models with LSC installed


Applies to
  • Microsoft Windows 8


Additional Information

This issue will be resolved in a future LSC update.






The user can disable the message from LSC by enabling the Remind Me option provided on the same page of the LSC Device Manager function.
