Solution
Use one of the three alternate methods below to upgrade the BIOS successfully. The third method is for SCCM Deployment (silent mode).
- Upgrade the BIOS using either the DOS USB Drive package or the CD ISO image package. These packages can be found on the Lenovo support site at https://support.lenovo.com/downloads/ds105487
- Upgrade the BIOS under Windows with the Special command “SpecialFlash64.cmd” at the OS environment. To do so:
a. Extract the latest BIOS package for OS environment to your system (“JY” package) as normal. For example, ”fwjy95usa.exe”.
b. Detach and copy the file “SpecialFlash64.cmd” from this page to the main directory of the BIOS upgrade tool. The default directory is C:\SWTOOLS\FLASH\FWJYxxUSA, where ‘xx’ is the BIOS package version.
c. Run the command “SpecialFlash64.cmd” in a command window with Administrative privileges, as in the below picture. Follow the BIOS update prompts as normal.
3. Upgrade the BIOS under Windows with the Special command “SpecialFlash64SCCM.cmd” at the OS environment. To do so:
