How to Factory Reset Lenovo Laptop with Lenovo OneKey Recovery

Facing problems like Operating System corruption, Computer VIRUS, error messages or frequent system disruptions? Restoring the system to factory defaults is a great way to fix these issues. In this video, we will show you how to reset your Lenovo PC to factory defaults. Before you begin the process, make sure you have all your personal data backed up in an external hard drive or USB Flash Drive.

This process will erase everything that is on the computer, so it is important that you don’t lose your critical documents, pictures and the applications you have installed. If you have your data backed up, shut down the PC. When the PC is completely turned off, press the Novo Button on your Laptop. Novo button is a small circular button usually near the power button or on the left side of the laptop. The system will power on to display the Novo Button Menu. Use your arrow keys to select System Recovery and press Enter. The system will boot to the recovery partition on your hard drive and show the “one key recovery” screen. To begin, we need to choose the image. The default option is to restore from Initial Backup with the image created at the factory. If you had additionally created a backup image on a different partition or on a USB Hard Drive, then connect them to the PC and select the option “Restore from user’s Backup”. In the “Select source image” drop down, select the partition where the backup image is stored. If you did not create a backup, then select the default option and click Next.

The Second step is to finalize and start the restoration process. Before you click on Start, just make sure you have all your critical files backed up. Once you click on Start, it will copy all the files and reset the operating system, drivers and applications to the factory defaults. When the process is complete, click Done to Reboot. As the system restarts, you will be prompted to configure the system as you did when it was first taken out-of-the-box. Select the Language and Click Next, Select the Country, Language and Keyboard Layout and click Next, Accept the License Agreement, Select the Color, Type the PC Name, Connect to the wireless Network, User Name, and other configuration settings. Once you login, copy the essential files from your backup and reinstall any additional software. That’s it, the Operating System is clean and ready to be used like a New PC. Thank you.
