      This package installs the software (display driver) to enable the following video chips on the system board.

      Device name in the Device Manager
      - ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3400 Series
      - ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3650
      - ATI Mobility FireGL V5700
      - Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

      Summary of Changes

      Version 8.563.2.1-090401a-079160C

      • (Fix) Fixed an issue where the LCD screen became brighter after resuming normal operation from standby state when the LCD brightness setting was the lowest.
      • (Fix) Fixed an issue that might have a blue screen error (Bugcheck code 116) when the DVI was used.


      • (Fix) When the switchable graphics is set to Energy Saving GPU (integrated graphics) and if "Lid close Do Nothing" is selected in Power Options, the display doesn't switch to the external analog display after the lid is closed.
      • (Fix) The error message, Windows cannot find 'igfxtray.exe', appears on uninstallation.

        • Notes:
          • To complete this, you will need the BIOS version 1.18 (6FET48WW) or later release.
          • Make sure that you have updated the display driver before BIOS update. Or you will be asked for an appropriate driver for a newly found hardware device and the display may be VGA (640x480) mode. In VGA mode, your icon arragement on the desktop will be messed up.
      • (Fix) The "ATI External Event Utility" is either not running or is constantly restarting.
      • (Fix) A scenario where the Intel tray icon is not present in the notification area after switching.
      • (Fix) The Alt-Ctrl-F12 hotkey to launch the Intel graphics properties page does not work sometimes.
      • (Fix) A scenario where the graphics switch failed after a hot undock.
      • (Fix) A scenario where the docked persistence of a VGA-attached monitor is not working.
      • (Fix) A scenario where the ThinkPad LCD is blank after hot undocking.
      • (Fix) Changed the Desktop->right-click->"Graphics Properties" menu item to be listed as "Cataylst(TM) Control Center". In Energy Savings mode, running Catalyst Control Center will report a message to the user stating that Catalyst Control Center is not valid for the Energy Savings GPU.


      • (Fix) WinDVD8 cannot play BluRay in 2048x1536 resolution.
      • (Fix) In Windows Media Center, DVD playback stops when graphics device is switched.
      • (Fix) Garbage appears on high resolutions using DVI dual link connection.
      • (Fix) When system is powered on in docking station with LCD lid closed, it always boot in Power Savings mode.
      • (Fix) Display is blank when system is undocked while in suspended mode and LCD lid is closed.
      • (Fix) Display is blank on some resolutions in DisplayPort monitor.
      • (Fix) Display is blank after graphics device is swithed from Power Savings mode to High Performance mode. This happens when the system is docked after the switch.

      Installing the driver

      Notes: - This software requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. This version installs it if it is not installed into your system.

      Manual Install

      This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

      Downloading files

      1. Click once on the underlined file name with the left mouse button. Once this is done, a pop-up window will appear.
      2. In this pop-up window, choose (using the left mouse button) the directory you would like to download the file to and click the "Save" button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete without your assistance.
      3. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.
      4. After being downloaded, the file will need to be extracted.

      Extracting files

      1. Open Windows Explorer and locate the directory where the file was downloaded.
      2. Locate the file that was just downloaded and click it using the right mouse button then select 'Extract All'.
      3. The file will begin to extract in the directory where the downloaded file is located.

      Installing files

      1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
      2. Open Windows Explorer and locate the directory where the files were extracted.
      3. Double-click SETUP file.
      4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
      5. At the Select Components screen, click Express.
      6. At the Setup Complete screen, select Yes, I want to restart my computer now.
      7. Click Finish to reboot the system and complete the installation.
      Unattended install
      This procedure is intended for system administrator use only.
      1. Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the files.
      2. At the command line, execute SETUP.exe -install. Example: [PATH]\SETUP.exe -install Where: PATH - path where the installation files were extracted.
      Uninstallation Instructions
      Note: During uninstallation, an error message 'Windows cannot find 'igfxtray.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.', may appear. Close the message to proceed uninstallation.

      Manual Uninstall

      1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
      2. Open Control Panel.
      3. Click or Double-click on 'Uninstall a program'.
      4. Select 'ATI Catalyst Install Manager' and click on 'Change' button.
      5. Click 'Next' button to open Catalyst Install Manager window.
      6. In the Catalyst Install Manager window, select 'Express Uninstall All ATI Software'.
      7. Click 'Next' button to continue and finish the uninstallation.
      8. Click 'Yes' button to restart Windows.

      Unattended Uninstall

      This is for system administrators' use only.

      • Make sure path to driver package using now.
      • At the command line, execute [bin/bin64]\ATISETUP with the -uninstall all options. Example: [PATH]\SETUP.exe -uninstall Where: PATH - path where the installation files were extracted.
      Switching Between High Performance and Energy Saving Modes

      Note: It is recommended to close any graphics settings utility such as ATI Catalyst Control Center or Intel Customer User Interface before switching between different performance modes.

      1. In the Task Bar, left click the battery guage. A pop-up window will open.
      2. In the pop-up window, mouse over 'Switchable Graphics'.
      3. Select 'High Performance' or 'Energy Saving' depending on what mode you prefer. A 'Power Manager' window will open. Click Yes to proceed.

      Determining which version is installed
      1. Right-click anywhere on an open area of the Windows desktop, and select ATI Catalyst(R) Control Center.
      2. If the ATI Catalyst Control Center is opened for the first time, a window will open asking to choose between Basic or Advanced. Select Advanced and click Next. Catalyst Control Center Notification window will open.
      3. Click Yes. Catalyst Control Center Advanced window will open.
      4. In the Graphics Settings pane, select Information Center then select Graphics Software. In the Graphics Software pane, the version is displayed.
