A bugcheck (Blue-screen of death) 0x1000008e can occur rarely while playing DVD Video on certain systems.
Any of the following systems running Microsoft Windows 7:
- ThinkCentre A58 (All models)
- ThinkCentre M58 (All models)
- ThinkCentre M58e (All models)
- ThinkCentre M58p (All models)
- ThinkCentre M70e (All models)
Note: The system is configured with WinDVD 8
Rarely the system can fail with a Blue-screen-of-death while playing DVD video.
The BSOD is a generic bugcheck KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e).
The true failure is stack corruption caused by igdkmd32.sys. This file is part of the Intel graphics driver subsystem.
This failure is rare and depends on the system memory configuration. On 4GB main memory systems, it occurs only once in 20 to 30 hours of playback. On 2GB and 1GB memory systems the failure is less frequent.
None. Do not replace any hardware for this issue.
This is a current limitation of Intel GMA 4000 graphics adapters.
Restart playback if failure occurs.
