How can I get a Product Recovery DVD or USB from Lenovo

      Description

A recovery media is a general term for media containing a backup of the original factory condition or a favored condition of a computer as configured by an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or an end-user. OEM media allows the user to:

      • Reformat the hard drive.
      • Reinstall the operating system.
      • Pre-loaded software as it was when it was shipped.

Some Lenovo machines have a separate partition on the hard drive. This partition contains the factory installed system and program files (Product Recovery program). The Product Recovery program runs independently of the operating system. We have covered this process below.

Most new computers are no longer provided with recovery disks for your operating system when you purchase. This is because your recovery media is now built into a hidden partition on your Hard Disk Drive.

You can copy your computer’s recovery partition to a DVD or USB drive, creating a backup copy. After you create the backup copy, Windows will allow you to remove the recovery partition from your computer, freeing up gigabytes of space.
