      Lenovo Settings Mobile Hotspot application does not share USB WiMAX Modem internet connection.

       

      Symptom

      Lenovo Settings Mobile Hotspot application prompts the user with error message “Mobile Hotspot requires an internet connection, please check your connection and try again”, even after USB WiMAX modem successfully connected to the internet.

       

      Affected Configurations

      The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

      • ThinkPad

      Affected Systems (machine types, model types):

      • All ThinkPads supporting Microsoft Windows 8

      System is configured with:

      • USB WiMAX device.

       

      Applies to
      • Microsoft Windows 8

       

      Limitation

      The current version of Lenovo Setting Mobile Hotspot (1.1.0.11788) cannot share the USB WiMAX modem successfully if the USB WiMAX driver is not Microsoft Windows 8 certified.

       

      Solution

      The user needs to always ensure that the USB WiMAX device is installed with the Microsoft Windows 8 certified driver.

      Lenovo Settings Mobile Hotspot can support all devices that comply with Microsoft Windows 8 3G Mobile broadband requirement and listed under the Windows Network Charm (Windows Connection Manager).
