      Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test version 1.1.0.115 may display a false failure message

      Symptom

      The Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test version 1.1.0.115 may display a false failure message when testing more than one storage drive at once with a sequence of a large capacity drive first followed by a smaller capacity drive.

      The Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test will also display an erroneous Result code and instruct the user to contact Lenovo support.

      There may not be a failure with any of the drives.

      Affected configurations

      The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

      • ThinkCentre
      • ThinkStation
      • ThinkPad
      • IdeaPad

      The system is configured with:

      • Hard Drive Quick Test version 1.1.0.115 with more than one storage drive

      Applies To:

      • Microsoft Windows 7
      • Microsoft Windows 8
      • Microsoft Windows XP
      Solution

      A new version of the Hard Drive Quick Test will be released to the Lenovo eSupport site.

      Workaround

      The user should perform the following to correctly test the drive operation:

      • Use the Hard Drive Quick Test to test each drive separately in multiple drive systems.
      • Use the embedded UEFI test.
      • Use the bootable UEFI test.
      • Use the bootable Linux test.
      • Use Lenovo Solution Center (LSC) software version 2.0.017, or higher.
