      How to uninstall VeriFace to fix Lenovo B Series or V Series hung “Please Wait” Screen Issue

      Statement description

      This document may be used to repair a failing Lenovo B Series or V Series notebook computer that hangs before the log in screen with a "Please Wait” message. This solution resolves hangs caused by a conflict between VeriFace and the Fingerprint Reader.

       

      Affected configurations

      The above symptom may occur to the following system(s):
      Lenovo B570, Lenovo B470, Lenovo V570, Lenovo V470, Lenovo V370

       

      Solution

      Please operate according to the following Sections and Steps:

      Section I: Systems stops on the “Please Wait” Screen during boot up
      Section II: Prevent the system from stopping on the “Please Wait” Screen
      Section III: How to Reinstall VeriFace if needed

       

      Section I: Systems stops on the "Please Wait” Screen during boot up (Skip to Section II if the system is not failing) 

       

      1. If the system is powered on and hung (See Fig.1), press the Power Button until the system shuts down.

      2. Power on the system and press F8 during Boot up. Choose Safe Mode and press Enter. See Fig.2.

      3. Click Start and select Computer from the Start Menu. See Fig.3.

      4. From the top menu choose Uninstall or change a program. See Fig.4.

      5. Select VeriFace and click on the Uninstall/Change button. See Fig.5.

      6. Click OK to uninstall VeriFace. See Fig.6.

      7. Restart the computer. See Fig.7.

      The system will now start with a functioning Fingerprint Reader.

      Section II: Prevent the system from stopping on the “Please Wait” Screen 


      If the system is working properly but it is listed as one of the affected models, this update may be installed to prevent it from stopping on the "Please Wait" screen. The Fingerprint Reader software will be updated to prevent a conflict with VeriFace. If the system is stopping on the "Please Wait" screen, please refer to Section I.
      1. Power on the system to start Windows.
      2. Locate and download BioExcess version 7.0.67.1 from the Lenovo support site (Example link is to the US update file).

      3. If shown, please disregard the following statement on the page:
      "Please install EgisTec Fingerprint Driver together with BioExcess desktop management software."
      4. Run the downloaded file using process for the browser on the system.
      5. Follow prompts on the screen until the installation is complete. Select “Yes, I want to restart my computer now.” Then click Finish to reboot. The Fingerprint Reader update is complete.

      Section III: How to Reinstall VeriFace if needed


      This section may be used to reinstall VeriFace if it was uninstalled to resolve a “Please Wait” screen issue. This procedure reinstalls VeriFace after BioExcess version 7.0.67.1 has been installed to update the Fingerprint Reader software. If the Fingerprint Reader software has not been updated, please refer to Section II.
      1. Power on the system to start Windows.
      2. From the Desktop (see fig.8) click the Start button and select Computer from the Start Menu.

      3. Open the LENOVO (D :) drive. See Fig.9.

      6. Open (Run) Setup. See Fig.12.

      7. Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the installation. . See Fig.13.

      8. Select “Restart your computer now for VeriFace to take effect.” Then click Finish to reboot. See Fig.14.
