Installation Instructions

Notes:

  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Determining Which Version is Installed section.
Manual Install

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Explorer.

[Downloading file]

  1. Select the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. In the window to choose Run or Save, click Save button.
  4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click the Save button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.

[Extracting file]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
  2. Locate the directory where the file was downloaded.
  3. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. In the Select Destination Location window, select Next. If you would like to select a different folder, select Browse.
  6. In the Ready to Install window, select Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.
  7. Uncheck the checkbox next to "Install ..... now", and then select Finish to complete extraction.

[Installing files]
[Mouse and Keyboard]

  1. Hold down the Windows logo key and press X to open a menu at the lower-left
    area of the screen.
  2. Select Device Manager from the menu.
  3. Double-click the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers or Storage controllers category.
  4. Double-click either of the following devices;
    • Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller
    • Intel(R) 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
  5. Select the Driver tab, then select Update Driver.
  6. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
  7. Select Browse..., then point to driver location specified in step 9.
  8. Make sure the checkbox next to "Include subfolders" is checked and select Next.
  9. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation and restart
    the computer.

[Touch]

  1. Press the Windows logo button to display the Start screen.
  2. Swipe in from the bottom edge of the touchscreen to display the App bar.
  3. Select All Apps.
  4. Select Control Panel.
  5. Select System and Security.
  6. Select Device Manager in the System section.
  7. Double-tap the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers or Storage controllers category.
  8. Double-tap either of the following devices;
    • Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller
    • Intel(R) 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
  9. Select the Driver tab, then select Update Driver.
  10. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
  11. Select Browse..., then point to driver location specified in step 9.
  12. Make sure the checkbox next to "Include subfolders" is checked and select Next.
  13. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation and restart the computer.

Finally delete the file saved in the step 4.

 

Determining which version is installed

[Mouse and Keyboard]

  4. Double-click Intel 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller.
