Steps and instructions to "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display" error - Windows 10, 11
Symptom
The touch screen may not work. The No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display error may occur even though the machine has a touch display.
Before proceeding, confirm the screen is equipped with touch.
- Right-click the Windows icon, then open System.
- See the description under System > Pen and Touch:
- No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display means the LCD is not touch screen.
Windows 11
- Full Windows Touch Support with 10 Touch Points means the LCD is touch screen (the description will vary on different hardware).
- No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display means the LCD is not touch screen.
- Another way to check is to open Control Panel (see Where is Control Panel?). On the Hardware and Sound screen, check under the Pen and Touch category.

Solution
Try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Try cleaning the machine
A dirty screen may cause the ghost touch symptom.

Verify touch screen is enabled
1. Open Device Manager.
2. Navigate to the Human Interface Devices option, then expand to find HID-compliant touch screen or HID-compliant device. If the options cannot be found, click View -> Show hidden devices.
3. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen or HID-compliant device. Then click Disable.
4. The Prompt window will appear Disabling this device will cause it to stop functioning. Do you really want to disable it. Click Yes.
5. Repeat the above steps. Choose Enable to bring touch back.
6. Reboot the machine or restart the device.
Try updating, reinstalling, or rolling back the touch screen driver
Update, reinstall, or rollback the touch screen driver.
a. In the search box on the taskbar, type device manager, and then select Device Manager in the results.
b. Expand the Human Interface Devices category.
c. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen, select Update driver and follow the prompts to update the driver. Restart the system and see if the issue is resolved. If not, try the next step.
d. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen, select Uninstall device, and then, in the Uninstall Device dialog box, select Uninstall. If you see two HID-compliant touchscreen drivers, right-click the first, select Uninstall device, select Uninstall, and then repeat the process for the second driver. Download and install the latest driver from support.lenovo.com. Select Drivers & Software. Find the driver under Manual Update or use Automatic Update. Follow the prompts and install the touch screen driver appropriate for the operating system. Restart the system and see if the issue is resolved. If not, try the next step.
e. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen. Right-click Properties. Select the Driver tab. Select Roll Back Driver and follow the prompts.
Update drivers
Updates are available with the automatic scan option:
- Go to https://support.lenovo.com.
- Select Detect Product.
- Select Drivers & Software.
- Select Scan Now under Automatic Update and scan for updates (or use Select Drivers under Manual Update).
