      Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

      Symptom

      DVD Driver is not detected at all by Windows or if it’s visible in device manager, then it’s not working.You might find a exclamation mark too in device manager for your DVD Drive in device manager. Also, if you insert in disk in DVD ROM, it’ll flash the LED lights on it for a while, but nothing would happen

      Solution

      To perform this, you need to be logged on to Windows as an administrator.

      Important :- Please follow the steps below carefully, as serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly.Lenovo will not be held accountable for any damage to your machine.It is recommended to back up the registry so you can restore them to previous status if problem occurs.

      Method 1: Manually fix corrupted registry entries

      1. Press Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog will appear. Type regedit in the run box and click OK button.The registry editor should open

      2. In the navigation pane, locate the following registry sub-key:

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}



      3. In the right panel, Right click on UpperFilters and select Delete, confirm the deletion by clicking Yes.

        Note:- You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do NOT have to remove that entry.

      4. Next we need to delete the LowerFilters. Right click on LowerFilters and select Delete, confirm the deletion by clicking Yes.

        Note:- If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, go to the next resolution method 2




      5. Exit Registry Editor.

      6. Restart the computer.
      If your problem is not solved, try the next resolution.


      Method 2: Create a registry subkey

      To use this method, you must be logged on to Windows as an administrator. If you need help verifying that you are an administrator, go to How to enable the hidden administrator account on windows 7, 8 & 10

      1. Press Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog will appear. Type regedit in the run box and click OK button.The registry editor should open

      2. In the navigation pane, locate the following registry subkey:

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi

      3. Right-click on atapi, point to New, then click Key.



      4. Type Controller0, and then press Enter.



      5. Right-click Controller0, point to New, and then click DWORD(32-bit) Value .



      6. Type EnumDevice1, and then press Enter.

      7. Right-click EnumDevice1, click Modify.



      8. Type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK.

      9. Exit Registry Editor.

      10. Restart the computer.

      Method 3: Uninstall IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers

      1.  Press Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog will appear

      2. Type devmgmt.msc. This will launch the device manager control panel

      3. Go to IDE ATA / ATAPI controllers section and expand it.



      4. You might see several ATA Channel controllers available.

      5. Uninstall all ATA Channel Controllers by right clicking them and choosing Uninstall from the list.

      6. After you’ve uninstalled all ATA Channel Controllers, close Device Manager and restart your computer.

      7. The drivers that you uninstalled will automatically update upon restart, Please ensure you have your internet connection working at this time

      Method 4: Update or reinstall the DVD/CD driver

      1. To update the driver, search for the driver from the Lenovo Support site at http://support.lenovo.com

      2. Make sure to select your product first at the home page

      3. Click on Drivers & Softwares at the menu on top

      4. Select the Component and Operating Systems

      5. Download the driver and follow the instructions to update

        Note Important: If you do not see any Windows 10 Optical Drive, it could be that your device is not compatible with the Window 10 upgrade. Lenovo will NOT support drivers for devices that is not compatible with Windows 10
